Lam ["How sitts this citie, late most populous,"]

17 Theres none, though Sion doe strech out her hand,
To comfort her. Itt is the Lords Command
That Iacobs foes girt him: Ierusalem
Is an vncleane woman amongst them

18 But yett the Lord is iust, and righteous still;
I haue rebeld against his holy will.
O heare all People, and my Sorrowe see,
My Maides my Youngmen in captiuitie.

19 I called for my lovers then, but they
Deceaued mee, And my Priests and Elders lay
Dead in the Cittie: for there sought for Meate,
Which should refresh their Soules, they could not gett.

20 Because I am in straites, Iehouah see
My hart returnd, my Bowells mvddie bee,
Because I haue rebelld so mvch, as fast
The sword without, as death with in, doth wast.

21 Of all which here I mourne, none comfortes mee
My foes haue heard my griefe, and glad, they bee,
That thou hast donne itt. But thy promisd daie
Will come, When, as I suffer, so shall they.

22 Lett all their wickednesse appeare to thee,
Doe vnto them as thou hast done to mee
For all my Sinnes: The sighs which I haue had
Are very many and my hart is sad.
