Lam ["How sitts this citie, late most populous,"]

With blood, the which impossible itt was
Their garments should scape touching, as they passe,

15. Would crie aloud, depart defiled men
Depart, depart, and touch vs nott, And then
They fledd, and straid, and with the Gentilles were,
Yett told their friends, they should not long dwell there.

16. For this they are scattered, by Iehouahs face
Who neuer will regard them more; no grace
Vnto there owld men, shall the Foe afford,
Nor, that they are Priests redeeme them from the sword

17. And wee as yett for all these miseries,
Desiringe our vaine helpe, consume our eies,
And such a nation, as cannot saue
Wee in desire, and speculation haue

18. They hvnt our steppes, that in the Streetes wee feare
To goe: our end is now aproched neere.
Our daies accomplishd are, this the last daie

19. Eagles of heaven, are not so swift as they
Which followe vs; Ore Mountaine topps they flie
Att vs, and for vs, in the desart lie.

20. The Anointed Lord, breath of our Nostrills, hee,
Of whome, wee said, vnder his shadow, wee
Shall with more ease, vnder the heathen dwell
Into the Pitt which these Men digged fell.
