EdHerb ["Man is a lump, where all Beasts kneaded bee"]

Howsoeuer keepe the liuely tast, yow hold
Of God; loue him as now, but feare him more,
And in your after=Noones, thinke what yow told,
And promisd him, att Morninges-Prayer before.

Lett falshood like a discord anger yow
Els bee not froward; But why doe I touch
Thinges, of which none is in your Practise new;
And fables, or Fruite-trenchers, teach as mvch

But thus I made yow keepe your promise Sr.
Riding I had yow, though yow still staid there
And in these thoughts although yow never stir
Yow came to mee at Michin and are here.|

Man is a lump, where all Beasts kneaded bee
Wisdome makes him an Arke, where all agree.
The foole in whome these beasts doe liue at iarr,
Is sport to others, and a Theater.
Nor scapes hee soe, but is himselfe ther pray,
All which was Man in him, is eate away.
And now his Beasts on one another feede,
Yett couple in anger, and new Monsters breede.
How happie is hee, whhich hath due place assignd
To his Beasts, and disaforested his Minde?
Empayld himselfe to keepe them out, not in:
Can sowe, and dares trust corne, where they haue bin. [CW: Can.]
