BoulRec ["Death I recant, and say vnsaid by mee"]

Now hee doth seeme to spare, and doth more waste,
Eatinge the best first, well preceaud to last.
Now wantonly hee spoyles, and eates vs not,
But breakes of frinds, and letts vs peecemeale rott:
Nor will this Earth serue him; Hee sincks the Deepe
Where harmeles fish, Monastique silence keepe,
Who (were death dead) by roes of liuing sand
Might spunge that Element, and make itt land:
Hee rounds the Aire, and breakes the Himning notes
In Birds, Heauens, Choristers Organique throates:
Which (if they did not die) might seeme to bee
A tenth ranck, in the heavenly Hierarchie.
O strong, and long liud Death, how camst thou in?
And how with out creation didst beginne?
Thou hast, and shalt see dead, before thou diest
All the fowre Monarchies, And Antichrist.
How could I thinke thee nothinge, that see now
In all this all nothinge els is but thou?
Our birthes, and life, Vices, and Virtues bee
Wastefull consumptions, and degrees of thee.
For wee, to liue, our bellowes were, and breath,
Nor are wee mortall, dyinge, dead, but Death.
And though thou beest, O Mightie Bird of praie
So mvch reclaymd by God, that thou mvst laye
All that thou killst, at his feete, yett doth hee
Reserue but fewe, and leaues the most to thee:
And of those fewe now thou hast overthrowne
One whome thy blow, makes not ours, nor thine owne.
Her Soule, and body was a kyng, and Court
But thou hast both of captaine mist, and Forte.
