LovExch ["Loue any Deuill els but yow,"]

Loues Exchange.

Loue any Deuill els but yow,
Would for a giuen soule giue something too.
Att Court your fellowes every daie
Giue the Art of Riming, Hvntsmanship, and Plaie.
For them who were their owne before,
Only I haue nothing which gaue more
But am, alas, by beinge lowly, lower.

I aske not dispensation nowe
To falsefie a teare, or vowe
I doe not sue from thee to draw
A Non obstante, on natures law;
Thes are Prerogatiues; they inhere
In thine, and thee: None should forswere,
Except that hee Loues Minion were.

Giue mee thy weaknesse, make mee blynde,
Both waies, as thou and thine, in eyes, and mynde,
Loue let mee neuer know that this
Is loue, or that loue childish is;
Let mee not know, that others knowe.
That shee knowes my paine; least that so
A tender shame, make mee myne owne new woe.

If thou giue nothinge yet thou art iust,
Bycause I would not thy first motions trust;
Small Townes withstand stiff; Till great shott
Enforce them by warrs lawe, condition not;
Such in loues warfare is my case
I may not Article for grace
Hauing put Loue at last to shew this face.
