The Relique |
|
When my Graue is broke vp agayne [281] |
Some second Guest to entertayne |
(for Graues haue learnd that womanhead |
To bee to more then one a bedd) |
And hee that diggs it spyes |
A Bracelet of bright hayre about the bone |
Will not hee let vs alone? |
And thinke that there a louing couple lyes |
Who hop'd that this deuise might bee a way |
To make theyr Soules at the last busy day |
Meete at this Graue, and make a little stay? |
|
If this fall in a time or Land |
Where Mis-deuotion doth com̄and |
Hee that doth digg it vp will bring |
Vs to the Bishop and the King |
To make vs Reliques; Then |
You shall be a Mary Magdalene; and I |
A something else thereby |
All woemen shall adore vs, and some men |
And since at Such times Miracles are Sought |
I would haue that Age by this Paper taught |
What Miracles wee harmelesse Louers wrought |
|
ffirst wee lov'd well and faythfully |
Yet knewe not what wee lou'd nor why |
Difference of Sexe wee never knewe |
No more then Guardian Angels doe |
Com̄ing and going wee |
Perchance might kisse, but not betwixt those meales |
Our hands ne're touchd the Seales |
w.ch Nature, iniurd by late Law, sets free. |
These miracles |wee| did. But now alas |
All measure and all language I should passe |
Should I tell what a Miracle |Shee| was.
